Another thought provoking piece. Here a place where history really matters. China was a very sophisticated culture centuries before Europe, but aside from a big chip on their shoulder from past glories, their current incarnation is mostly a product of our greedy rentiers. While spurring a bit of reindustrialization in the US, the world would soon regret awakening the sleeping dragon, especially a military confrontation. As one wonk put it, "the west might have a chance, if they can let there banks have at them first".
