As one oil executive was fond of saying, "the stone age didn't end because they ran out of stones". We are already nearing the point of negative returns on energy invested, even before you add the costs of ecological disasters and the maintenance of more than one carrier group in the Middle East. Hey they could always turn all us old people into biodiesel, we'd be better than the bloody tar sands, and you would not need to add as my hydrogen.
