Beautiful essay. We white, male, boomers sure had it great, but we mostly took it all for granted. I have lived all over the world, and I can tell you that escaping the decline of the American Empire will not be as easy as you may think. Even brokenhearted, it is better to stay and fight for the decent society (for everyone), implied by the hymns of our youth.
