Excellent discussion Giles. However, with AGI it is a question of how humans will be handled after the FOOM singularity. Back when I worked in DC in the late 1970s we were calling a Manhattan Project in alternative energy, and we would remind folks the transitions from wood to coal and coal to oil took 50 years each, and the prices were in their favor. We, however, did not have 50 years and the prices were not in our favor. AI has it own built in Manhattan Project. Once machines begin recursive self-enhancements there is really no limit.
