Excellent essay. But many present day disruptions are aimed at extracting more rent from an unwitting population. It is the Uberization of the Economy. It is not Schumpeter's "Creative Destruction", it is just creative extraction. Not to mention the assignment of property rights to the public patrimony (e.g., the internet).
