Good discussion Ben. But basically I would call down a plague on any religion that wants to control the state. I am not the only one to notice that Evangelicals behind for Trump don't actually like the New Testament. I've heard some say it is too woke. They prefer the vengeful God of the Old Testament. How can people call themselves Christians, who ignore his basic teachings. Clearly many are only interested in the power to dictate how others live their lives, even if they can't.
