Good points about collapse. But, recent studies have shown that Easter Island was not the example Diamond provided. Population was never so high, and attacks by slavers, explain much of its' decline. Not to mention the disease and rats (that ate the tree roots) that they left while taking away able bodied islanders. Plus, two scholars at the University of Hawaii proved that the stone icons where "walked upright" into place, greatly reducing the need of island labor. Greenland is a much better example of a civilization choosing to collapse in the face of climate change.
