Great essay William. But Jefferson was a brilliant man, and a seriously flawed man in an intensely flawed times. Slavery indeed was a horrible abomination, with a terrible residual impacts (which we have yet to fully deal with). But how would you compare Jefferson to Trump (the racist, fascist sexist, and moronic rapist) in the 21st Century?
