Partial answer: One) Silicon Valley has developed a new ideology telling them, that they are the Crown of Creation, and 2) We are on the verge of a number of dangerous technologies (e.g., human genetic manipulation as well as AGI), and they do not want them regulated, and 3) They are assholes.
