Mirage indeed. Even their Patron Saint, F.A. von Hayek, wrote a blurb on "Why I am Not a Conservative" (https://press.uchicago.edu/books/excerpt/2011/hayek_constitution.html). They rant about government except when reaching for more handouts. Their only reliable principle is the conservation of ill-gotten gain. But, in fairness, a lot of their cultural crapola is just a charade, designed to inflame and distract the masses.
