Unfortunately all isms (including socialism and even libertarianism) end in oligarchy. Democracy (when checks and balances are well maintained) gives one a decent chance to change their oligarchs from time to time, and even reform the system at the margins. Do you really think that those leaders so hell bent on dismantling our democratic processes will ever give up their power and monopoly on violence? After things are handed over to the mob, the masses will soon beg them for total totalitarianism, and folks who don't like it will simply disappear, if not experiencing public execution. By the way you and I are probably already on their lists.
